Which Freeze-Dried products can I feed my dog as a meal?Updated a year ago
Our Freeze-Dried Bites are a Complete and Balanced recipe as per the AAFCO definition which can be fed exclusively as a meal for dogs.
For a dog food to be called "complete and balanced" per AAFCO regulations, it must meet the following criteria:
- Complete: It must contain all the nutrients a dog needs to thrive, including proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients in the proper proportions for the given life stage (puppy, adult, senior, all life stages)
- Balanced: Not only must all required nutrients be present, but they must be properly balanced in relation to each other to avoid nutritional excesses or deficiencies.
Foods with this label have gone through feeding trials or nutrient analysis to prove they provide:
- Adequate protein and amino acids to meet nutritional requirements
- Adequate levels of essential fatty acids and minerals
- Proper levels of calcium and phosphorus
- Appropriate levels of vitamin and nutritional supplements
Muenster's Freeze-Dried Meal Toppers, Meatballs and Liver are not Complete and Balanced recipes and should only be fed as toppers or treats.
